Logicon Selected by National Institutes of Health For Wide-Ranging IT Services and Support Contract

March 6, 2001

HERNDON, Va., March 6 -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC - news) company, has been selected by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to lead teams that will provide information technology (IT) services and support to the federal government through the Chief Information Officers Solutions and Partners (CIO-SP2) contract.

The NIH selected 27 large contractor teams to compete for task orders on CIO-SP2, which is a 10-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a total program value of $19.5 billion. In addition, 21 small, disadvantaged and woman-owned businesses were also selected for CIO-SP2.

``Logicon is a proven prime contractor with expertise in all program areas,'' said Jim Perriello, president of Logicon's Information Services and Solutions business unit. ``Our successful performance on the original CIO-SP contract and our highly capable subcontractors position us well for success on CIO-SP2.''

There are nine task areas on CIO-SP2: chief information officer support; outsourcing; IT operations and maintenance; integration services; critical infrastructure protection and information assurance; digital government; enterprise resource planning; clinical support, research and studies; and software development. A distinction of CIO-SP2 from the original contract vehicle is the emphasis on new technologies.

``We have met with agency CIOs to better understand what their needs will be during the next 10 years, and our teams have the global reach and technical skills needed to meet those emerging needs,'' said Mr. Perriello.

The original CIO-SP contract was awarded in 1996, and Logicon performed tasks for all branches of the military, the Department of Health and Human Services, including the NIH, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service and the Customs Service.

Headquartered in Herndon, Logicon is the information technology sector of Northrop Grumman Corporation, and a leading provider of advanced information technologies, products, systems and services. Areas of expertise include command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR); enterprise IT hardware and software solutions; information systems; training and simulation; science and technology; base and range support; and commercial information services.
