Northrop Grumman Sector Names Mack S. Barber Director Of Land Combat Systems/Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- March 1, 2001 -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Electronic Sensors and Systems Sector has named Mack S. Barber director of Land Combat Systems/Knoxville, Tenn., effective immediately.

In this newly established position, Mr. Barber will also serve as president of two wholly owned subsidiaries of Northrop Grumman. They are Perceptics Corporation in Knoxville and REMOTEC Inc., in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Perceptics supplies security systems and advanced imaging systems to defense and commercial markets. REMOTEC is a world leader in ground robotic vehicles, having delivered more than 1,500 worldwide.

As director of Northrop Grumman's Land Combat Systems/Knoxville, Mr. Barber will be responsible for engineering and manufacturing development, production and fielding of defense and commercial applications of technology at REMOTEC and Perceptics.

For the past five years, Mr. Barber had been marketing manager for the company's Baltimore-based Land Combat Systems business unit when the organization experienced a very rapid increase in annual sales. Mr. Barber's focus as marketing manager was in developing operational applications of advanced technology with emphasis on supporting U.S. Armytransformation initiatives.

Mr. Barber joined Northrop Grumman (formerly Westinghouse) in 1992 at the company's former electro-optical facility in Orlando, Fla., after working elsewhere in the defense industry supporting information systems development for other major contractors including Lockheed Martin in Orlando. Earlier in his career, he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation in Orlando, providing real-time processing systems for defense-related applications.

Mr. Barber holds a B.A. in natural sciences from the University of South Florida and an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md.
