Company releases 2013 Corporate Responsibility Report

FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) released its 2013 Corporate Responsibility Report (CRR), a comprehensive publication that highlights the company's ongoing commitment to corporate responsibility including environment sustainability; support for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education; community service; and diversity and inclusion. It is the seventh year the company has published this report.

The Northrop Grumman CRR is produced consistent with the Global Reporting Initiative, a third-party organization that has developed a widely used environmental, social and governance reporting framework. The report is also evaluated by an independent external review panel.

Some highlights include:

  • The company's enhanced support for veterans, disabled, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender employees.
  • Northrop Grumman's continued commitment to STEM initiatives such as the Air Force Association CyberPatriot cybersecurity competition, which included more than 1,500 teams of middle school and high school students.
  • The company's increased support of the VEX Robotics program, which stimulates student interest in robotics engineering and involved more than 100,000 students representing 25 countries.
  • Northrop Grumman partners with approximately 9,500 suppliers and in two of those relationships received Nunn-Perry awards as part of the Department of Defense Mentor-Protege program.
  • The company reached its greenhouse gas reduction goal two years ahead of plan by reducing emissions more than 25 percent.
