Northrop Grumman's Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence Recognized by City of Palmdale

PALMDALE, Calif., March 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Palmdale has recognized Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) commitment to the Antelope Valley with a commendation for the company's designation of its Palmdale site as one of two Aircraft Integration centers of excellence in the country.

This month marks the anniversary of the site being named an Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence. Northrop Grumman's only other site with that designation is in St. Augustine, Fla.

"The establishment of the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence is a tremendous benefit," said Andy Reynolds, vice president, Manufacturing Operations and Palmdale site manager, Northrop Grumman. "Our center of excellence brings together the company's best capabilities in one location in the western United States, enabling lower operating costs, increased collaboration and more opportunities for innovation. That allows us to better meet customer demands for affordable products, services and solutions."

Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford presented the commendation to Reynolds during a City Council meeting March 5. "We're very proud of the well-deserved recognition of Northrop Grumman's Palmdale Site," said Ledford. "Its importance to both our community as a major employer as well as to our nation as a critical manufacturer of significant aircraft that are vital to our national security cannot be overstated. Our congratulations and admiration goes out to the entire staff here in Palmdale."

The Palmdale Center of Excellence will provide the opportunity to continue its efforts of being a dedicated community partner. The site provides assembly, integration, testing and long-term maintenance capabilities for some of the world's most advanced aircraft systems including the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, B‑2 Spirit bomber, and the RQ-4 Global Hawk and MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft.
