TASC Wins Physical Security Contract to Support Federal Agencies

April 12, 2001

CHANTILLY, Va., April 12, 2001 -- TASC Inc., a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), is one of the contractors selected for a multiple award, five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract by the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center to provide federal agencies with physical security and consulting services.

The Physical Security Systems Omni contract has a ceiling value of $115 million that will be competed between the winning teams. TASC estimates the contract's potential value for its team could be as much as $30 million over five years.

TASC will be responsible for analysis and planning; technology assessment and development; and security system design, development, integration and deployment.

"Our main objective is to support the Volpe Center in its role as a key government resource for security systems and services," said John Casciano, TASC senior vice president for Enterprise Security.

"The decision by the Volpe Center to select TASC for this contract reaffirms our reputation as a leading global security innovator and recognized expert in the integration, development and deployment of physical security systems," Mr. Casciano said. "We look forward to supporting Volpe and its customers by solving vital issues of national infrastructure security."

To help the Volpe Center and other security clients, TASC has created a new Enterprise Security Distributed Laboratory featuring up-to-date networked lab facilities in Reading, Mass., Chantilly, Va., and Colorado Springs, Colo. The lab will be used to demonstrate and test advanced security technologies used in smart card systems, digital video surveillance and cyber-security efforts.

TASC previously was awarded a three-year, $5 million task order by Volpe to design and install a sophisticated digital video monitoring system at the U.S. Capitol Hill complex in Washington, D.C. Now in the project's second year, TASC recently captured a $6 million follow-on task order to continue applying innovative engineering and to use its new laboratory to prototype advanced technology solutions that will address evolving security needs in the nation's Capitol buildings.

TASC's teammates on the new Physical Security Systems contract include ADT, Applied Research Associates, Boyd-Maier Associates, Cosentini Associates, CUBIC Corp., Litton PRC, Radian Inc., Research Planning Inc., RS Information Systems Inc., TITAN/Horizons Technology and XTEC.

Located in Cambridge, Mass., the Volpe Center provides technical research, analysis, systems engineering and deployment services for the Department of Transportation and other federal, state and local agencies in connection with the transportation, logistics and operations-related components of their missions.
