TASC Wins Life-Cycle Management Contract From Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control

April 5, 2001

CHANTILLY, Va., April 5, 2001 -- TASC Inc., a Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) company, announced today that it has won a two-year, $7.2 million systems integration contract from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Orlando, Fla., for Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM). The contract is one of the largest PLM contracts awarded to date in the aerospace industry.

Collaborative product life-cycle management (c-PLM) is a process that digitizes data and automates the procedures required to design and manufacture a product. TASC is partnered with Eigner+Partner for its axalant(tm) software -- a web-based software system that enables companies to define their products and processes electronically, in cooperation with suppliers, partners and customers throughout the entire product lifecycle.

The Orlando contract follows an earlier award from Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control unit in Dallas, Tex., bringing TASC's total PLM work for the company to more than $11 million. The system in Orlando will enable Missiles and Fire Control to consolidate its engineering practice standards across the two locations. This will not only help the company gain efficiencies, but also make it easier for employees to move from one production line to another, or even one plant to another, if the need arises.

"This contract represents an important step towards perfecting a seamless, virtual engineering environment for our company," said Chet Winsor, Missiles and Fire Control's technical operations vice president.

"This second contract with Lockheed Martin attests to the value clients are deriving from our c-PLM Edge methodology," said Stuart Peskoe, TASC director of Enterprise Data Management. "Our proven systems integration approach will help Lockheed Martin to fully integrate its former Vought Systems facility in Dallas with the former Martin-Marietta facilities in Orlando, helping the company bring together two different cultures and systems and receive the full benefits of the Lockheed Martin consolidation.

"The Dallas implementation has proven that you can seamlessly move engineering data from the designers' desktop, through an approval chain, purchase components, and manufacture items, all without data re-entry," Peskoe added.

TASC has developed a one-of-a-kind implementation methodology called c-PLM Edge(tm). The approach ensures total understanding of an engineering company's requirements before tailoring and integrating Eigner+Partner's axalant software. TASC is E+P's solutions integrator and value-added reseller for the U.S. aerospace and defense market.

TASC Inc., is one of the world's premier providers of information management and systems engineering solutions for government and industry. Founded in 1966, the company has more than 30 offices and over 3,000 employees throughout the United States. More about TASC can be found at www.tasc.com
