Logicon Wins U.S. Army Contracts for STRICOM Constructive Simulation, Test-Instrumentation Domains
HERNDON, Va., April 19, 2001 -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) company, has received awards for two domains of the U.S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command's (STRICOM) Omnibus Contract (STOC).
Logicon awards were in the constructive simulation and test-instrumentation domains, two of STRICOM's four business areas. STOC is an eight-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract with a total program value of $4 billion to all contractors.
The constructive simulation domain covers systems that run war games and automated simulations using large-scale, complex computer-driven models. These systems simulate large groups such as battalions, brigades and divisions. The test-instrumentation domain covers systems used to conduct development and operational testing of materiel systems and weapons systems used in training and simulation exercises.
"We recognized that STRICOM's shift to a large, omnibus, ID/IQ, training and simulation contract was an opportunity for us to bring Northrop Grumman's and Logicon's total capabilities to bear on a host of STRICOM challenges," said Dr. Charles Stebbins, vice president, Space and Technology Operations, Logicon. "Our management approach will facilitate system development and integration of technology for application to Army modeling and simulation across all domains."
Logicon, the information technology sector of Northrop Grumman, will be the lead contractor and provide development, testing and operational support spanning all aspects of the modeling and simulation life cycle.

Logicon's Technology Solutions unit, headquartered in Herndon, will begin work on the program in late July 2001 in Orlando, Fla., with additional support in Huntsville, Ala., and other locations.
